25 August 1886 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Wednesday. 25th August [1886]. I went out at 7 & fished from Poolen down but got nothing & then after breakfast had to prepare for our start. Henry , Monty & Miss W. Brown walked down to Noste. Susan & I were taken down in the boat by “the Marquis” down the river as far as we cd. We had to wait a long time for the steamer which was behind time & then with great regret Henry & I & three servants departed. It was a fine day. There were no 1st class passengers but a priest & his wife who came on board at the next valley & went to Molde. We got in abt 7.13 & were met by the Landlord of the “Alexander H.” who shook hands & then showed us the way. Mr Randers also met us & said he would call on us at 9 o’cl. We dined & then went to lie down, ready to be up for our Bergen steamer wh was expected at 4. At 4 we got up—had a cup of tea & went on board. It began to rain & not a berth was to be had—the saloon was full of snoring men—so Annie our cook & I sat on camp stools just under shelter on deck & dozed till 7 when people began to stir. At 6 the cargo being all in our steamer started for Trondhjem on
