8 September 1886 — Niederdorf
Wednesday. 8th September [1886]. Got up at 6 & at 7 started in a carriage to drive down the Ampezzo pass. After the storm it was quite cold in the early morning & till we reached Schluderbach & got into the sun I was glad to have a thick wrap over my shoulders. While the horses rested at Schluderbach we walked on to the top of the pass picking flowers & wild strawberries. We had a splendid cloudless day for seeing the mountain tops. Lunched & remained 2 hours at Cortina & reached Tai. We found Mr Malcolm’s carriage & horses there & transferred ourselves & luggage to his carriage & abt 5.30 we found ourselves at La Punta where we found Mr Malcolm, & his clerk Mr Giovanni Astolfi & his daughter. We dined at 7 & retired early to rest. Very hot.
