7 September 1886 — Innsbruck
Tuesday. 7th September [1886]. We left Innspruck by 10 o’cl train & had a very hot journey– Lunched at Franzensfeste where we waited ¾ hour & arrived at Niederdorf abt 5. The landlord of the “Post” met us. I rested till 7 when we dined in the midst of a great thunderstorm. Just as the landlady came in with our wine there was a great crash of thunder which made her scream & retire discomforted. When she returned she begged our pardon & said the thunder had frightened her so she had even forgotten to wish us “a good appetite.” The storm cooled the air.
