28 October 1886 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 28th [October 1886]. Having asked a few people to tea for tomorrow evening it got reported it was to be a dance so I determined to have one. I went in the morning to see Ersilia about a “tapeur” whom she promised to find. After lunch I went out with Lady Bagot to call on Mrs Bronson & was introduced to her whistechy (?) & also to Mr & Mrs Peabody Russell who have just bought the Contarini degli Scrigni Palace. They do not appear to be very high bred Americans—but are said to be very nice & kind. We went on to Mrs Eden & were joined by Henry & Katie & went home. Lady Bagot walked home. Mrs Burr & Isabel dined with us & we played games of patience.
