29 October 1886 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 29th October [1886]. Felt very unwell & after giving out the necessary things for this evening I went to bed for a few hours & got up to tea 5 oc T much better. We dined at 7—at 9 some of our friends came—& we had a merry little dance. We cleared one half of our long hall, stretched linen cloth & had a pianist. They danced till 1 o’clock & we finished with a “Sir Roger” in which Henry, Mrs Bronson & I took part. Mrs Bronson was in low spirits at having lost her little whistechy monkey wh caused much joke & fun.
