18 November 1886 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 18th [November 1886]. Henry & I took a walk on the Fondamenta Nuove in the afternoon. In evening went to Rossini Teatro to see Ponchielli’s “I Promessi Sposi,” the author’s widow acted for the first time since her husband’s death. Music very pretty especially the accompaniments– All the company sang very decently. The Prima was very commossa at the beginning—but was much applauded & sang very well. | |
