5 January 1887 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 5th [January 1887]. Was woke by a violent clap of thunder which we heard afterwards had struck & set fire to the Vendramin Palace belonging to the D. de la Grazia. It soon after snowed a little but later cleared. Had a guitar lesson alone as Edith Bronson did not come. Copied for Henry, Edith came after luncheon & she & I went out together—left some cards & I picked up Henry at the Stabto & so home. Dined at 7.30. Patience in the evening.
