2 April 1887 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Saturday. 2nd April [1887]. Got up late. Mama came to see me & began reading Chaucers Prologue to me. She stayed till past one & went away when she had finished. Susan Hambro & Blanche both came in before my lunch so I did not go out. Lady Dickson & Sir Collingwood & Mr Oldfield & M. van Brantighern came to call. Henry went out at 3 to drive to the French hospital to attend a meeting & to dine there. At 7.30 I dined with Blanche & Edward. His brother Walter was there. B & E & I went to the Criterion to see “Garrick” acted by Wyndham & May Moore. Well acted & interesting in parts—funny in parts—pathetic in parts but badly composed play. Had supper together at our house & found Henry returned home.
