11 April 1887 — Inwood, Henstridge, Somerset
Monday. 11th [April 1887]. Maria, Richard, Dr Wiblin & Capt. Philips & I went in the carriage to the meet. Luff was on the box. We followed the hunt for a long way till at last a wretched mangy fox went to earth. We got out of the carriage to see him dug out & he was found in a hole in a bank on wh we mounted & we saw him driven out & hoped he might have escaped but the hounds overtook the poor beast & there was an end of him. We followed on still some way but there was no other find & we went home by abt 4. Had some tea & rested till dinner. Played patience after dinner with Merthyr & Mrs Collins. Genl. & Mrs Park & son dined also at Inwood & the Genl. took me to dinner.
