16 April 1887 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Saturday. 16th April [1887]. Blanche & I walked out in the morng & I returned to lunch. Count Corti & Ct Hatzfeldt lunched with us. At 3 I went to see Mama & then up to Kitty. I found Mrs George Osborn with her, when she went down to see Mama I had a little talk with Kate & being very low fairly broke down & we both cried. I went downstairs & met Edward Ponsonby who had come to see Mama. As I got worse I had to go home & get some tea quietly & give up going to Blanche’s to hear her children sing. Henry came from there & we played patience. Susan Hambro came to see me & we chatted till dinner time. Went to dine at 25 Park Crescent. Quite a large family party. The Hallam Murrays, old Mr Murray & Annie, Connie & Charlie, Blanche & Edward & some of the Du Cane family, 15 in all.
