5 June 1887 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Sunday. 5th June [1887]. Sir Francis, Ola, Nela & I went to the service. A strange parson preached a very nice sermon. After luncheon read. Henry & Sir Francis went to the Exhibition in vaporetto. At 5 I & the girls went out in gondola. Old Luigi did not come today having got fever. We had the Stabto gondolier. Left cards & came home at 6.30. Read Kingsley to the girls till dinner. After dinner the rest all went out to see the serenata. I remained in & played the organ. | |
