11 June 1887 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 11th June [1887]. Wrote letters in morning. Finished copying the Bellini. The girls went out with Sir Francis & Mr Alston to Piazza & to the Vianelli. After lunch I had a visit from Mrs Brown & then from Mrs Ker. At 3.30 I went out with Henry & Sir Francis to call on Mme de Hurtado & found her at home. She is living at present in the Casa Semeticolo (Genl de Horseys). From there we went to the Peabody Russells. Henry & I went in while Sir Francis went home to fetch Nela & his son & brought them to join us. They came in to have tea & see the house and then we went on for a little row. We dined at 7 & then went to Bauer’s to hear the Hungarian band which plays at the restaurant every evening. It was very full. Home by 11–
