23 June 1887 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 23rd [June 1887]. Got up to breakfast at 9. Packed & arranged things for our departure on Saturday. After lunch Mr Brown came—then Lady Louisa Legge, Cortelazzo, & young Countess Giustina Valmarana—the latter very pretty & nice came to thank me for the wreaths &c I had sent for the funeral. Henry took the girls out shopping. I remained at home. We dined at 7.30 & Cortelazzo with us & then went out rowing on the canal & stayed under the giardinetto to hear the music.
