14 August 1887 — Coole Park, Gort, County Galway
Sunday. 14th August [1887]. Sir Wm & Lady Gregory, Henry & I went to church at Gort in the waggonette. We arrived so early that we went round the church yard & met & were introduced to Archdeacon Daly the parson. After service we met the Goughs & took leave of them. After lunch I went with the Gregorys to call on the Misses Franks who live in a small house close by let them by Sir Wm. One of the sisters has lately married a blind General Franks a cousin. She was matron of a hospital in London & is fat & forty. He a tall slim officer like man & has been blind about 3 years. We walked back & had tea in the garden & then took a turn in the flower garden. Sketched the sunset till dinner.
