27 August 1887 — Dublin | |
Saturday. 27th August [1887]. After breakfast Henry & I went to the National Gallery & altho’ it was not yet open to the public, by using Mr Doyle’s name we got in & spent the morning there. We returned to the hotel, got some lunch & went off by a 1 o’cl train to Bagenalstown & had to drive abt 2 miles from there to Garry Hill. Blanche had arrived in the morning from London and had had a perfectly good passage so it was lucky we had not put off our arrival from Kylemore as she had come over on purpose to receive us & left Edward alone in London. He could not get away on account of Parliament being still sitting. We got there for 5 o’clock tea. All the 5 children & Fraulein Ludwig were there. It is a small house but substantial & Blanche has made it very comfortable. | |
