23 October 1887 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Sunday. 23rd [October 1887]. Kate went to the early service. I & Mama went to 11 oclock service. Kate & Miss Maxwell went to the Concert at the Lido directly after lunch. I took them in the gondola to the Riva from whence the steamer started & then I proceeded to the Hotel Britannia to call on M. & Mme Westerberg who are here for a couple of days on their way back to Rome, he being Dutch Minister there. I left there just in time to go to afternoon service at the Grand Hotel & Mama & Henry called for me in gondola & fetched me home. Mrs Burr, Pss Montenegro & her sister & daughter, Mrs Ryecroft & Miss Curtis (Miss Maxwell’s friends) all came to tea. Css Pisani dined with us. | |
