30 July 1888 — Syltebo, Romsdalsfjord
Monday. 30th [July 1888]. Got up directly after breakfast at 10 Vice Consul Dahl of Molde came to us to talk over Monty’s business as he has undertaken the management of his affairs here. At 11 I went up to Friswold to fish with John & fished down from Sirra bridge saw nothing. Dined at 5 & Mr Dahl with us. He went fishing in Fjord with Leo. I went up to Friswold with Thorwald & in Kjespool hooked a fish after playing him more than an hour. Henry came down from fishing above & I told him to go on with my fishing. It got quite dark & at last Thorwald said we must take the fish down Fagerslet & we did so. What with the racing down the stream & the fear of losing the fish my heart beat but we landed at the top of Poolen & the fish was so drowned that we soon got him. Henry was still fishing at Lr Poolen but when we got there he came home & on landing at Up. Gredhus we weighed my fish & found he was 34 lb which accounted for my having had him on 3 hours.
