1 September 1888 — Brightwell House, nr. Wallingford, Berkshire | |
Saturday. 1st September [1888]. Fine day & Maria & I sat out on the gravel walk all the morning & worked & talked. After luncheon we drove with May & Richard a long tour thro’ a very pretty country & passed the very poor scrubby monument erected to Hampden on the field in wh he received his death wound. Had tea & then assisted at a new version of Cinderella written by Ruth & capitally acted by the Du Cane girls which lasted till 8 o’cl dinner. Played Reversi with Arthur Du C. | |
