3 October 1888 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 3rd [October 1888]. Unpacked & prepared the house for the arrival of Lord Aberdare & Lena & Sarah Bruce. Mrs Eden came to see us in the morning & remained to lunch. Sent for Cini who prescribed for me who am not yet quite recovered since I was not well at Syltebö. Browning & his sister (I due poeti as the Venetians call them) & Mrs Bronson called. Mme de Hurtado came also, Mr Hamilton Aidé & Ersilia Canevaro. The Aberdare party arrived from Padua abt 4 oclock. We dined at 7. Ola & Nela & Lord Aberdare went out after dinner in gondola. Henry & I played patience. The Bruce girls went to bed.
