4 April 1889 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Thursday. 4th [April 1889]. A terribly fatiguing morning—every kind of visit & interruption & Nela came to meet her dressmaker here to be advised by me—& so I never had a quiet moment– Miss Hogarth (C. Dickson’s sister in law) came to luncheon & afterwards she drove with us. We deposited Henry at Mrs Kay’s & then went leaving cards. Found Lady Gregory at home & went in for a few minutes to see her– Took Miss Hogarth to Tedworth Sqr & left her there & came home. We dined with Mr & Mrs Blumenthals’ & met there Sir Francis & Lady Montefiore & he took me to dinner. I had the Persian Ambr on my right & he was very complimentary on Henry’s book “Early Adventures” & said that as he knew the difficulties he must have gone thro’ he thought Henry gave a far too modest acct of himself.
