3 April 1889 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Wednesday. 3rd April [1889]. Wrote in the morning & went off abt 12.30 with Henry to the city. We drove to the Ottoman bank where we had to sign papers about the sale of the building by the V. Murano Co for the English Church at Venice which Henry has bought in my name & will hire to the Trustees until they can buy. Mr Waterfield, Mr Rate & Mr Tom Bruce were there and afterwards we had luncheon with the directors of the Ottoman bank & Lord Hillingdon & Mr Grenfell came also. Henry went to the Glyn’s bank to fetch my Assyrian necklace wh has been there since 1879 & we took it home where we arrived at 3. I went in to No. 15 to see Blanche & she begged me to go out shopping with her so I drove with her & bought black moiré for my court train on 12th. Intended to have gone to T with Maria but it rained so I came home. We dined with Mr & Mrs Rate & large party & met Lady Horatia & Mr Erskine Mr & Mrs Leveson Gower of Titsey (He took me to dinner) &c &c Went to Wimborne House in the evening, Blanche going with us. A dinner wh was turned into a dance.
