17 June 1889 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Monday. 17th [June 1889]. Stella Dyer & her mother came to us abt 4 & we walked round to Lady Thompsons & met there Pauline Trevelyan & there she & Stella played to Lady Thompson who was delighted with them. Sir Hy Thompson was not there having gone down to Woking with the Duke of Bedford to see the Crematory. They were to take down a coffin & the Duke’s executors & were to go thro’ the ceremony of cremation that the Duke might show them how his own cremation is to be done when the time comes. We had a little dinner party—Mrs & Stella Dyer, my mother, Mr Scharf, Constance, Ruth Du Cane, Sir F. Burton & Arthur Du Cane & a few came in the evening.
