15 August 1889 — Landro | |
Thursday. 15th [August 1889]. Left Landro at 9 in a carriage, Henry & I with Annie Carter the maid. Sorry to leave the Sermonetas who promise to pay us a visit at Longarone. The weather uncertain but improved & got warmer as we went on. Arrived at Cortina a little after 11; found Nela & Ola were out walking. Dacre had gone on by dilly to Longarone. The girls returned at 12 & we had lunch & then Nela & Ola & I walked on the road & were picked up later. We passed the Italian frontier without any bother & got to Tai abt 3. There we found Giuseppe with Mr Malcolm’s carriage & horses waiting for us. The girls & I walked on while they were getting the carriage ready & passing thro’ a small wood found a lot of sweet cyclamen & got a quantity. We reached La Punta at 5.15. Found that Dacre had arrived at 4 having walked all the way from Borca. Mr Malcolm received us most kindly & gave us tea. We dined at 7.30 & enjoyed a comfortable bed feeling as tho’ we were at home. | |
