3 September 1889 — Torre Pellice
Tuesday. 3rd September [1889]. Breakfasted in our room. Read aloud. Wrote to Frederic. Lunch at 1. Visit from Mme Peyrot who asked us to dine with her tomorrow at 6.30. Walked up to the newly inaugurated Maison Vaudois & saw the Synod sitting—then went for a lovely drive by Luserna & St Jean. The country beautifully cultivated & the lanes like English lanes with the cultivation of Italy. An excellent dinner at 7.30 served by the good landlord Mme Durand & her daughter. Patience– Very hot & storm in night.
