12 September 1889 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 12th [September 1889]. Visit in the morning from Mme Stavrides the wife of the Embassy Dragoman at Consple. I had known her as Mme & after his death she married his colleague “Per affare di ecconomia” as old Pere Leon said as their united pensions made a good sum. She told me all about Consple & people I knew there. Eda Alderson & Bessie & John arrived at 5 this morning. Ola went to meet them. I set Nela to work in the studio to paint. Practised guitar with Ola’s mandolin. Mr Cartwright dined with us. Henry took the girls out.
