25 October 1889 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 25th [October 1889]. Spent the morning writing letters. Directly after lunch I went to see Mrs Browning who was not out of her room & then Henry called for me & took me to the Zattere to call on Miss Moore who was at home. Thence we went to the Montalbas & found them also at home & there met M. Mimaut. Home to tea 7 read aloud Gozzi to Henry. We dined at 7 & Henry & I went to Goldoni Theatre to Zago’s benefit & saw a very stupid piece called “Un Campagnolo di Bagni del Lido” which was hissed & would never have been heard at all had it not been that Zago was such a favorite & acted his part so well–
