24 October 1889 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 24th October [1889]. Another fine day. Resumed work on Ola’s bust while Eda read aloud. Practised guitar with Ola’s mandola. Princess Sapich called after luncheon– Henry went to the Hotel to fetch Sir C. Newton & then returned for me & we took him for a row & then left him at his hotel & came home. After 5 oclock tea I read aloud to Henry Symond’s “Gozzi.” Sir Charles Newton & Mr H. Brown dined. I sang to the guitar in the evening. | |
