27 October 1889 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Sunday. 27th October [1889]. The girls went to the English church & Henry & I to the Greek church where there was a Te Deum on the occasion of Princess Sophy’s marriage– All the authorities were there—the music was good & the service fine & impressive. We got away abt 12 having gone at 11. In the afternoon I went with Ola & Eda to church & picked up Henry & Nela in the Piazza & brought Henry home—the girls remained to walk a bit. Prince Gagarin came to tea also Duchess Noci & her sister & Mr Woods. I read aloud to Henry before dinner & played guitar in eveng. Still scirocco & dull weather. | |
