2 December 1889 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 2nd [December 1889]. Up at 7, read & practised guitar before breakfast. Mr Desideri came again to photo bust, last attempt having failed. I modelled till 12. Dressed & Henry & I went to lunch on board the German Admiral’s ship “Leipzig” which is now in the Arsenal for repairs. Olga Mocenigo & Mrs Eden & Mme Noce & Mr Moore & Captain Romano of Italian navy were also there & the Captn in command Plüddesmann & his wife lunched. The ship’s band played during the entertainment. The 4 girls from our house & little Valentine Mocenigo & her pretty governess also came & there was dancing till past 5. When we left the Arsenal was closed & no gondola could go in or out so the ship boats took us to the gates & the gondola waited outside. On getting home we found Cortelazzo had arrived to stay with us in good spirits & health. Mr Colnaghi Katie’s brother dined with us. Harmonium.
