28 January 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 28th [January 1890]. Returned to our habit of rising at 7.30. There was a meeting of the Church Committee in the morning & I arranged with Mr Brown to go in his sandolo to walk on the Lido in the afternoon as the morning was so fine & we seemed to have at last got rid of the fog, but alas by 1 o’cl the sun has disappeared & the fog returned. However we went to the Lido—the girls by steamer & I in Mr B’s sandolo– We walked to the Quattro Fontane & then came home– The girls to tea with the Miss Hammonds. We had the Trios in the eveng of guitar & mandola & mandoline.
