23 April 1890 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Wednesday. 23rd [April 1890]. Wrote letters in bed & rose late. Practised guitar. Miss Duff Gordon called after lunch. Drove out with Ola & Henry. Left him at Nat. Gallery & left Ola at Lady Du Canes & then went on to see Mrs Ball whose husband has so lately died– She was dreadfully upset & made me very low—but I think she liked seeing me—& I was glad to be of any comfort to her– Our husbands were always such fast friends. We dined at Mrs Rates & met Mrs Balfour, Mrs Willy Bruce, Mr Beaumont & Mr Baillie &c—a small party & pleasant–
