30 April 1890 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Wednesday. 30th [April 1890]. Got up late– Maria, Ola & I went to the New Gallery Private view. It was very hot & tiring– Some good pictures & many bad ones. Henry went to the Grosvenor Galley in the morning which he described as wretchedly bad. He was too tired to go to the New. After tea I was sitting quietly with Henry when Monty came in and asked me to go with him & Nelly to the Play tonight– I went & saw a piece called “a pair of spectacles.” Hare acted admirably. The piece is good & very amusing. It was given at the Garrick theatre.
