6 May 1890 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Tuesday. 6th May [1890]. Painted fan. Lady Gregory & Kate at luncheon. Henry went to the Levée & lunched before us. Went out at 3 with Kate & Henry in the carriage & they left me at Mme Prattens to have a guitar lesson—& Kate called again at 4 for me– As we were driving through Berkeley Sqr we met Henry & took him up & went & wrote his name on the D. of Cambridge. Kate returned to Savile Row & we came home. We dined with old Mr Thompson Hankey to meet the Gregorys—Sir Wm returned today from Ceylon after an absence of 4 months. Lady G. left us today & went to stay with Mr T. Hankey. Sir William sleeps at Mertinis Hotel (our old servants). We walked to the dinner & back—59 Portland Place.
