3 August 1890 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Sunday. 3rd August [1890]. Gave Henry his breakfast at 8 & had mine in his room—& remained with him in the morning. Mr Herring came to see him at 10—& at 3—& the last thing at night. Had tea in his room with him. Read aloud to him. Went abt 6.30 to see Sophy Palmer. She was just going off to church—so I went on to Maria’s—she was out—but I met her in Portland Place & she walked home with me– Sir Wm Gregory came to see Henry & Sir Henry Thompson also. Marquis Maffei came to luncheon with us—& also Nelly Alderson & May Ponsonby & Ruth Du Cane. Maffei was full of his tourist hotel arrangements at Madrid & wanted my advice. Dined with Ola & sat with Henry in eveng.
