11 September 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 11th September [1890]. Breakfast at 9. Nela & I painted till 12. Wrote letters till lunch at 1.30 at wh Mr Malcolm joined us. Mr Moore came after lunch & I asked him to take me to Css Pisani’s which he did. I introduced him to her & then sent him to prepare to join us in our afternoon’s expedition. At 4 Henry & Virgie called for me in gondola & the Empress & 2 Pss followed in theirs, Ct Seckendorff & Ct Wiedel in another & we went off to the Lido & landed at the Quattro Fontane. Henry did not remain but returned almost at once home as Dr Cini has forbidden him to be out at sunset. Ola & I at once made the tea while the others took a walk on the shore. We set off home again abt 6.30 & Nela rowed her sandolo there & back & Mr Moore also came in his small gondola so we made quite a fleet– On arriving at home it struck me that Mr Moore would be dining alone & so I asked him to stay with us as Mr & Mrs Noce were dining with the Empress. Mr Malcolm was also of our party & at 9 he, Mr Moore & the girls went out in gondola with the Psses & we 2 to bed–
