1 October 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 1st October [1890]. Made designs of d’oyleys to send to my sister Blanche– After luncheon I & 3 girls & Mme Noce & Mr Moore & 2 Princesses went off in the steam launch to S. Nicoletto. Had tea in a pretty grove near the powder (old) magazine where the general public is not admitted– A very pretty spot at the end of the Lido looking towards the old forts. The Empress had gone to the Ponte Lungo to sketch & Ola went back in the launch to fetch her & brought her to where we were & have tea– Then we walked to S. Elisabetta & found there the launch wh took us home. It was quite dark when we arrived home. The Dyers came & dined & Agostini & Trombini came & tried over trios. Mrs Eden & 2 Hammersley girls came. I left them & went to Css Pisani where the Emp & Psses were & our girls– The Emp: left early, we stayed late—the girls Romped & danced to music played outside in the canal by the Pittori who had serenaded them. The Psses enjoyed themselves like children.
