6 October 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 6th October [1890]. I remained in bed till quite late– Mama came & sat with me—Lord & Lady Alwyne Compton came to lunch at 1. Richard & the Du Cane girls went to Torcello & had luncheon there coming back abt 4. I went out in gondola with Mama. Went to see Css Canevaro—a very painful visit—the first I have made her since her boy Dicky died. She talked of nothing else & showed his room, books, drawings &c. Read aloud to Henry & rested till dinner at 7.30. Patience in the eveng. | |
