4 December 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 4th December [1890]. Copied music before breakfast. Painted after Mr Dyer came & gave us a lesson– Practised with Ola at 12. Took a walk with Sophie & we wandered half over Venice from here over the Rialto to the Fondamenta nuove—thence to Canareggio—round by the iron bridge at the station home—but we got lost at this part & found ourselves back in the place we left after wandering some time, then suddenly found ourselves at home. Mme Wiel came to tea & discoursed about the organ her aunt the Dss of Northumberland had given to our church & whether we should exchange it for a smaller one &c &c Count Pinelli came to bid us adieu as he is named procuratore generale at Turin—then came Mrs & Miss Matterson who are about to leave Venice.
