9 December 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 9th December [1890]. Mr Browning called for me & the 2 girls & took us to the station at ¼ to 8 to see off Pss Victoria & P. Adolf & Mlle Blücher by the train which started for Florence at 8.30. It was a bright cold frosty morning. Mr Moore & Sr Barrozzi were also there. The Pss made us get into the carriage with her & there make our last adieus. She gave me a lovely bouquet wh she had had given to her & which I undid when I got home & put into water. Passini came again to work at Henry’s portrait. I painted with Nela till 12 when I practised guitar & mandola with Ola– Did not go out but rested in my room. Baroness Oesterreicher & Mme Wiel came to tea, both English women—the former married to an Austrian, the latter an Italian—was Miss Lawley & she came to speak about the organ given by her aunt to the church & which was injured in coming out & had to go to Genoa to be repaired. Mr & Miss Hilda Montalba also came to tea. After dinner Ola & I went to the Brownings for a guitar & mandola practise & came home at 11.30.
