8 January 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 8th [January 1891]. Snow snow snow & very cold. Henry breakfasted in bed but was better. Ola also not well—got up late & had to go to bed before dinner. No going out & no one to come & see us. We made up our minds to dine up stairs & give up the drawing room floor. Dr Cini came to see Ola who says she has a chill. Heard old Mr Darvall an artist had died suddenly on 6th & Mr Jameson being absent no clergyman to be found to bury him. At last two Scotch ministers called on.
