7 January 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Wednesday. 7th [January 1891]. Bitter cold & snowed all day. Henry better, but no one could get out. Read aloud to Nela “Mr Smith.” Practised guitar. Henry remained in bed till after lunch. I had a hard days work arranging books in the anteroom. Read aloud to Henry Houssaye’s Louis XV after tea till dinner– After dinner read to Nela “Mr Smith”—& superintended Henry’s Patience. Ola had to leave the dinner table being giddy & faint. | |
