15 January 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 15th [January 1891]. Still lovely weather. Passini came. Nela & I painted all morning & then we agreed to give up that study & had our room cleared of the model– Our work was too bad & disheartening. Henry went out alone. The girls went to see Miss Moore. I practised guitar & we had a band practise from 4.30. Miss Stefani did not come—there were Mr Browning, Edith Bronson—Ola, Mme Stefani & self. We practised till nearly 7 when we dined & Henry took the girls to the Opera. I wrote letters & went early to bed. My new maid Rosa Siegfried arrived Milan– Rather short & fair & plain—a contrast to Rina.
