28 January 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 28th [January 1891]. Wrote letters all the morning. Went out with Henry in gondola & walked in the Piazza. The hoar frost was so strong that it only disappeared in the sun as far as the shade went it was quite white in a straight line & this at 4 P.M. Mr Moore came to tea and we had a great argument about duelling he being Italian in education, violent in favour of it. Read aloud to Henry before dinner. Played Halma with Nela & early to bed–
