4 March 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 4th March [1891]. Painted in the morning with many interruptions from upholsterers &c—& Dr Cini who came to settle what I was to do about my violent headaches. He came to the conclusion that my brain is somewhat enlarged & ordered me Carlsbad waters. After luncheon a visit from Mrs Eden. Henry & I went out in gondola to the Eden’s garden & took a walk there. It was a lovely afternoon after a wet night & dull morning. Mr Eden was at the garden– There are no spring flowers out yet excepting a few violets. We came home to tea & had Countess Giulia Persico & Ct & Css Brandolin. Princess Olga Montenegro dined with us at 7 & Henry took her & Nela to Rigoletto at the Rossini. We had the mandoline practise in the eveng all except E. Bronson came, viz. Dss della Grazia & Marie her girl, Mme & Mlle Stefani & Prof. Trombini. We were still at work when the others returned from the theatre at 12.
