20 March 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Friday. 20th [March 1891]. I began a portrait of myself. Mr Ffrench who called yesterday while I was out came to luncheon. He is here for a few days to join Mr Floyd on his yatcht Mera & to go for a cruise. Henry was better & went out & he & I went in gondola & took Mr Ffrench & left him at the Piazza. Henry walked on the Zattere– I called on Mrs Martin at the Calience inn on the Zattere & saw her baby—on coming out I found Henry talking to Miss Montalba & as they are living on the Zattere they persuaded us to go in & have tea with them & showed us their sketches. Henry took the girls to the Liceo concert of old music. I went to bed. | |
