14 May 1891 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Thursday. 14th May [1891]. Practised guitar. Packed for our trip to Paris. Mr Clark came to luncheon. After lunch Henry & I drove up to see Frederic. He was in bed & his wife said “Would not get up.” She does not realize how ill he is. He was very excited & rambled a great deal. They said he would not take food. I persuaded him to take some jelly but he got into a great state over it. We are vary anxious about him. The Dr had not yet been but was expected at 4. Fred knew us but in a vague way. He was not weak in turning in bed– I fear he will not recover tho’ it may be long. Sir Henry Thompson dined with us quite alone & left early. Hot weather.
