25 May 1891 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Monday. 25th May [1891]. After writing letters &c I went out for a walk & called in at 17 Cav. Sqr to ask Blanche to go with me wh she did & we shopped & returned home for luncheon– At 3 I drove up to 3 Cavendish Road to enquire abt Mrs Fred Layard. Found she was ill in bed—but I saw Ida the girl & had a talk with her. It appears Frederic had had heart complaint for 3 years & they told no one lest he should hear of it. I returned home & fetched Henry & we went driving. I called on Lady Galway & saw her in her bed. She is rather better. We dined at 17 Cav. Sqr & met a Mr Fisher priv: sec: to Mr Arthur Balfour– A pleasant little man. Merthyr came in the morning in town for a few hours only. Showery weather.
