2 June 1891 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Tuesday. 2nd June [1891]. Practised guitar. Miss Hogarth came to lunch with me– Lady Elizabeth Bertie also turned up & my sister Blanche & her 2 little girls Olwen & Irène. Lunch at 1. At 2.15 I took Blanche & her girls & Miss Hogarth to the Albert Hall. Miss H. & I dropped them & went in to see Lady Sligo & her mother Mme de Peyronnet. They were at home– Madeleine de P. in bed with influenza. We went back to the Albert Hall a little before 4 & went up to the Exhibition of Home Arts. The Princess of Wales & her daughters arrived just after & were taken round the stalls by Ld & Lady Brownlow. Met M. Smargiassi there & showed him round. He was there doing business for the Paper called Hearth & Home. Took Miss Hogarth to have a cup of tea wh we got with difficulty & then we took leave of Blanche who was selling at the stall & took Miss Hogarth home to 55 Oakley St & then returned to my own abode. I had a headache—all day but not violent so could go about. Henry went to dine at The Club where Lord Selborne was also so Sophy Palmer proposed herself to dinner with me & brought also Sir Arthur Gordon & his daughter Neville. Had a pleasant eveng. They left early & Henry returned abt 10.30.
