19 June 1891 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Friday. 19th June [1891]. Mrs Burr called as usual on Friday mornings & sat with me some time. Merthyr & Theo went out all the morning but returned to lunch. Mrs Alexr Bagot came to lunch. Theo & Merthyr left for Motcombe by 5 train. I drove Henry to the Nat. Gallery & then went on to leave cards & pay visits. Found Mrs Pusey at home. Her husband commanded HMS Bittern when we were at Consple. I came home at 4.30, had tea & then went to see Miss Green the Empress Fred. late Governess who is laid up at a nursing home in Harley St. Monty Alderson arrived in town to stay with us. Henry & I dined with Lord Selborne & Sophie & met her sister Lady Laura Ridding & her husband the Bishop of Southall, also her aunt Lady Elizabeth Brodie & Lord & Lady Cranborne & a Mr Smith of the British Museum.
