24 December 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 24th December [1891]. Today’s paper brings nothing about the Pearl robbery case as the trial was put off for a day. I breakfasted in bed & then got up & went to work at my portrait—& repainted the dress. Did not go out. Messrs Woods, Hulton, Fischer & Montalba came at 3 to work at the Christmas entertainment & finally it was decided to give it up as it takes more time to prepare and the time is too short. Henry went out alone. I sat in the green boudoir & wrote letters & had tea there to wh Mr Malcolm came & also Idita Hurtado. Ola went to the evening mass at St Marks & took Ida Bel: with her. We dined at 8. Ola & I played duetts guitar & mandola in eveng. Bed early. Lovely weather still.
